One of the advanced topics of research for learning is that of game-based learning. Games and simulations for learning are of high interest to the ADL Community with efforts taking place to integrate HLA and SCORM.
Recently NATO leaders met at the ADL Co-Lab in Alexandria, VA. "The gathering was part of a serious effort to achieve better interoperability and standards among the alliance’s partners in all aspects of training, including using video games to train troops before they deploy.\"
